Quiet Notes Studio

How your studio works.

Everything you need to write and publish a Quiet Note — kept simple, promise.

Finding your studio

Go to your website, scroll to the very bottom of any page, and click “Admin” (it's in the small print next to the copyright line). Or go straight to pathwaystowellbeing.co.nz/studio — worth bookmarking, or adding to your phone's home screen.

Logging in the first time

  1. On the login page, press “Email me a sign-in link”.
  2. Open your sharon@pathwaystowellbeing.co.nz inbox and click “Open the studio” in the email. (The link works for 30 minutes — if it's expired, just ask for a fresh one.)
  3. The link signs you straight in. Go to “Studio settings — change your password” at the bottom of your notes page and choose your own password. A few easy-to-remember words make a strong one — something like kereru morning tea. Type it twice, save, and let your browser remember it when it offers.

That's it — from now on it's just your password at the door.

Coming back

Type your password and press “Come in”.

Forgotten it? Press “Email me a sign-in link” — a fresh link arrives in your inbox and signs you straight in, and you can set a new password under Studio settings.

Writing a new note

  1. Press the big “+ Write a new note” card.
  2. Give it a title. (This creates the note's web address — the address stays the same forever, even if you rename the note later.)
  3. A subtitle and category are optional — nice, not necessary.
  4. Add a cover photo if you like: drag one in, click the box to choose from your computer, or paste an Unsplash link into the little field underneath. Photos are automatically shrunk for the web — huge phone photos are fine. Then say what's in the photo in a few words, for people who can't see it.
  5. The short summary is what Google shows under your link. Leave it blank and the note's opening lines are used — that's usually perfect.
  6. Then just write. The page you're typing on looks exactly like the published note — what you see is what readers get.

Making it look lovely

Highlight some words, then press a button in the toolbar:

  • Heading — turns the line into a section heading.
  • B — bold, for firm emphasis.
  • I — italic, in the site's soft serif.
  • • List — a tidy list, one thought per line.
  • ❝ Quote — a pull quote: large, italic, in the site's olive green. Beautiful for the line you most want remembered.
  • — Divider — a gentle pause between sections.
  • Link — highlight the words first, then paste the web address.

Everything comes out in your site's colours and fonts automatically — you can't break the design, so play freely.

Photos inside the note

Three ways, all easy:

  • Press “+ Photo” in the toolbar and choose one from your computer.
  • Paste an Unsplash link right into your writing — it turns into the photo, where your cursor is. (On unsplash.com, open the photo you love and copy the address from the top of your browser. Unsplash photos are free to use.)
  • Paste a copied photo — a screenshot, or an image copied from another app.

Click any photo in your note to describe it or remove it. Photos are shrunk for the web automatically.

Draft or publish?

“Save as draft” keeps the note private — only you can see it, and you can come back to it any time. Drafts show a little “Draft — not on the site” tag on your notes page.

“Publish” sends it out into the world. The site quietly rebuilds itself, so your note appears on Quiet Notes a couple of minutes after you press the button — don't worry if it's not instant.

And if your computer dies or the tab closes mid-thought: the studio keeps an unsaved copy on your computer and offers to bring it back next time you open that note.

Changing a note that's already live

  1. Open it from your notes page.
  2. Make your changes.
  3. Press “Publish changes” — the site updates itself in a couple of minutes.

Want it off the site for a while? Press “Move back to drafts” — it disappears from Quiet Notes until you publish it again. Nothing is ever lost.

Done with a draft for good? On your notes page, press Delete on its card. Only drafts can be deleted — a live note always comes off the site first, so nothing can vanish by accident.

Writing ahead — scheduling

Want a note to appear on a particular day — say, Sunday morning? Just set the note's date to that day and press Publish. It waits quietly (your notes page shows it as “Scheduled”) and appears on Quiet Notes that morning, New Zealand time — around 6 o'clock. No buttons to remember, nothing to come back for.

Write three notes on a quiet Sunday, date them a week apart, publish all three — and your blog posts itself for the month.

Changing your password

On your notes page, open “Studio settings — change your password” at the bottom, type a new one twice, and save. You stay signed in; everything else signs out.

If something looks odd

  • “My note isn't showing yet” — give it a couple of minutes and refresh. Publishing rebuilds the whole site, gently.
  • “My photo says it'll show after the next rebuild” — same thing; it's saved and on its way.
  • Anything else — email your website people at support@yourhq.co.nz. Nothing you can press in the studio can break your website, so never worry about exploring.
